On libretto by <strong>Dragomir Yossifov<\/strong> based on self-titled story by Gianni Rodari. Staged by the Russian choreographer <strong>Liliya Burdinskaya<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>In 2015, he wrote \u2018<strong>Time Etudes<\/strong>\u2018 f<em>or orchestra, two choirs and voice solo<\/em>, originally commissioned by <strong>Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France<\/strong> later on to be commissioned by <strong>Bulgarian National Radio<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>In 2017 he was commissioned by Apollonia Festival of Arts to compose \u2018<strong>Windows and Oranges<\/strong>\u2018 <em>for accordion and string orchestra<\/em>. The piece was premiered by <strong>Krassimir Sterev<\/strong> (KLANGFORUM Wien) and Chamber Ensemble Sofia Soloists under Plamen Djouroff.<\/li>\n<li>In 2011, he composed \u2018<strong>Attempt at Screaming<\/strong>\u2018 for <strong>ASKO\/Schoenberg Ensemble<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>As a part of 2010 \u201cNew York comes to The Hague\u201d project, he wrote \u2018<strong>HORO<\/strong>\u2018 for <strong>Bang on a Can-All Stars<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=&#8221;Awards&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.9.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; open=&#8221;off&#8221;]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In 2012, Kerkelov <strong>won<\/strong> <strong>59th International Rostrum of Composers<\/strong> in Stockholm in \u201c<strong>under 30<\/strong>\u201d category with \u201c<strong>Attempt at Screaming<\/strong>\u201d<\/li>\n<li>In 2016, his \u2018<strong>Time Etudes<\/strong>\u2018 received \u201cTop 10 recommended work\u201d in \u201c<strong>General<\/strong>\u201d category <strong>at 63rd International Rostrum of Composers<\/strong> in Wroclaw<\/li>\n<li>Finalist at Sentierri Selvaggi Composition Competition, Milano<\/li>\n<li>Scholarship from <strong>Richard-Wagner-Stipendienstiftung<\/strong> \u2013 Bayreuth<\/li>\n<li>Twice awarded \u201cGrant for artistic high education\u201d by <strong>Schuurman Schimmel-van Outeren Stichting<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Twice awarded \u201cScholarship for classical music\u201d by <strong>Raina Kabaivanska Foundation<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=&#8221;Career&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.9.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; open=&#8221;off&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Peter Kerkelov is a freelance composer since 2012.<\/p>\n<p>As of 2017 Kerkelov is represented exclusively by the Dutch Contemporary Music Publishing House <a href=\"http:\/\/donemus.nl\/peter-kerkelov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>DONEMUS\u00a0<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Currently, he is Associate Professor and head of composition in National Music Academy &#8220;Prof. Pancho Vladigerov&#8221;, Sofia. Previously, he served as Assistant Professor in Ethnomusicology at Institute of Art Studies in Bulgarian Academy of Sciences<\/p>\n<p>Previous projects include commissions by Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Bulgarian National Radio, Dutch Chamber Music Society, Royal Conservatoire-The Hague among others.<\/p>\n<p>Kerkelov\u2019s music has been performed in Bulgaria, The Netherlands, Germany, France, Austria, Russia, Ukraine, Armenia and the USA in distinguished venues such as <strong>Konzerthaus Wien<\/strong>, <strong>Gaudeamus Music Week<\/strong>, <strong>BOZAR Brussels<\/strong>, <strong>Teatro Massimo, Palermo<\/strong> in performances by <strong>Asko\/Schoenberg Ensemble<\/strong>, \u201c<strong>Bang on a Can All-Stars<\/strong>\u201d, <strong>Ensemble PHACE<\/strong> (Austria), Ensemble \u201c<strong>Musica Nova-Sofia<\/strong>\u201d, <strong>Sofia Soloists <\/strong>with<strong> Krassimir Sterev<\/strong>, <strong>Ruysdael Kwartet<\/strong> (The Netherlands), Antonii Baryshevskyi (Ukraine), Hayk Melikyan (Armenia) among others.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=&#8221;Education&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.9.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; open=&#8221;off&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Peter Kerkelov holds a PhD degree in Ethnomusicology from <strong>Bulgarian Academy of Sciences<\/strong>, Sofia; a Master\u2019s degree in composition from <strong>Royal Conservatoire, The Hague<\/strong> where he studied under Martijn Padding and Guus Janssen; a Master\u2019s in composition from <strong>Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts (AMDFA)<\/strong>, Plovdiv, Bulgaria, where his teacher was prof. Dimitar Tapkoff. From AMDFA he has also a Bachelor degree in classical guitar and music pedagogy with teachers Milena and Valentin Valchev.<\/p>\n<p>In 2006-2007, as an exchange student he studied composition under prof.
